Tom and Nancy BurgissThe Owners
Tom & Nancy Burgiss have lived on the Burgiss Farm for some forty years. Tom is a retired pharmacist and Nancy is a retired school teacher. In 2008 they will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Together they have raised three sons in this farmhouse since returning to Alleghany County in 1969.

From 1987 to 2007 they operated the Bed & Breakfast. Because of their many interests and other hobbies (elaborated below), they decided to bring in some new hosts to run the B&B while they explored other adventures. They invited long-time friends Glenn & Cindy Graves to host the B&B beginning in July of 2007.

One of Tom's many hobbies upon retirement was wine making. That hobby has grown into Thistle Meadow Winery and grapestompers.com, two thriving businesses which join the Burgiss Farm on the property. The B&B guests share a complimentary bottle of wine during their stay. They may also purchase wine from the winery if they so desire. Tom continues to be enthusiastic about winemaking, and, if you dare ask him a question, there is a strong possibility you may end up making wine yourself. Tours of the winery are available during your stay at the B&B. You can also enjoy a wine tasting in from the more than forty wines Thistle Meadow Winery currently has to offer.

Glenn and Cindy GravesThe Hosts
In mid-July of 2007, Glenn & Cindy Graves joined the Burgiss Farm family when they came on board to operate the Bed & Breakfast. Glenn recently retired only to begin this new adventure in meeting and greeting people from all over the world who come to the tranquil valley in Laurel Springs, North Carolina where the Burgiss Farm B&B is located. Cindy continues to be a school teacher working with students who desire to learn Spanish as well as those students from other countries who need assistance in learning English as a second language. They have been married for over 37 years and have three grown children. They invite you to come and visit with them in the quiet beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rest, relaxation as well as adventure await you.
